3DX-RAY takes the industry out of industrial x-ray inspection

New software streamlines set up of x-ray screening equipment to enable easier analysis of items
Loughborough, UK – 3 October 2011 – 3DX-RAY, the x-ray inspection specialist, has today announced CatSpect, a new software module, within the 3DX-RAY standardised software suite, that will make the analysis of items even easier for customers. A brand new, icon-based interface enables quick and simple set up of analysis parameters and other functionality requirements – whether users are setting up highly automated, rapid, inline scanning, batch inspection or one-off scans. The new software will be implemented across 3DX-RAY’s entire range of industrial x-ray screening products.
X-ray screening is a key process for industrial manufacturers to ensure the quality and safety of their products. The new standardised software makes it far easier to deploy x-ray equipment at manufacturing plants, enabling customers to tailor functionalities and analysis tools themselves in software. Creating a new simplified interface was also critical for customers to ensure that operatives at varying levels could easily set up and modify analysis tools – from production line operatives or line control managers to R&D engineers.
For instance, in the example of 3DX-RAY’s customers in the emission control industry, the software enables the easy set up of inline analysis tools to check the success of the layering of precious metals on catalytic converters – ensuring a sufficient overlap and that there are no gaps. The software also allows line operators to deploy analysis over time, highlighting process trends or errors in the production process, allowing for corrections to be made. The data can also be fed back to R&D teams looking at new process techniques to ensure that analysis tools can be tailored at the same time.

CatSpect is initially being rolled out alongside 3DX-RAY’s catalytic converter inspection equipment, and will be incorporated into the company’s other hardware lines over the next 12 months.
